A novel-optimal monitoring index of rocky desertification based on feature space model and red edge indices that derived from sentinel-2 MSI image

Few studies of monitoring rocky desertification based on Sentinel-2 MSI image with higher spatial and temporal resolutions have been reported. In this paper, nine typical surface parameters that derived from including three red edge indices introduced to establish two types feature space index: point-to-line type point-to-point type. The results show that: (1) index has a applicability in obtaining information for karst zones; (2) BSI (bare soil index)-NDre1 (red 1)feature the best R2=95.1% root mean square error (RMSE)=0.872; (3) indexes composed inversion accuracy, which indicates are sensitive indicators condition process;(4) intensive severe zones mostly located southeast central parts. 3-dimensional or multidimensional model will be constructed improve accuracy further studies. research can provide methodological supports revealing evolution laws.
